You are right. If I still lived in Philadelphia it would be much more difficult to let it go to hell, but since all I ever get on TV here are crap games between a couple of sunbelt teams with no crowd, never the canadian teams, then it is over for me. I will still watch all the DU games that make it my way that I can, I love the college hockey.
You hit the hammer on the head, exactly what I am getting at. Plus the fact that when Bettman was put in as commissioner he had not even been to a game!
Utah really is a pretty nice place to be, the weather is fantastic, the skiing is great, and the outdoor activities are second to none. Culturally, the environment is stifling but certainly makes for an interesting divide to watch.
no, it seems that we are the ones being accused of it now. When you preach against those things loudly and for a long time, when you get caught with your pants down you get a lot more grief than others that do the same things. Torturing others only proves our enemies points that we are no more caring and moral than anybody else. Call it enhanced techniques or whatever you want, it's torture.
Here's a little econ 101. If you throw a rock through a window of a storekeeper, does it help or hurt the economy? The answer is it hurts the economy. Some would say it helps because then the store owner buys a new window, and the window seller can buy a new camera, and so on. However, if the window had not been broken to begin with, the store owner still would have had the money to spend on something else other than a window that didn't need to be replaced. He could have spent it on a artisan cheese, or something else. The point is, the overall wealth is larger when he can choose what to spend it on rather than replace the window. The money being spent on the wars in Iraq is borrowed money, and that money is going to destroy things and blow them up and maintain an occupation. Yes American corporations are pocketing most of the money, but the rest of us are paying for that money. Overall wealth would be increased if a.) we did not borrow the money and add it to our debt, or b.) borrowed that money and invested in research and development of a product to sell, or a manufacturing plant, something that would have produced something.
